A Semantic Analysis of Satan’s Sainthood1 from the Viewpoint of the Qur’an and Ways to Deal with It

The Holy Qur’an introduces the acceptance of the Sainthood of God and his Saints3 as the way of human’s prosperity. Among the main obstacles in this way are Satan and his soldiers who try to drive human out of the Sainthood of God and take him under their own authority and Sainthood. The purpose of this research is the semantic analysis of the concept of Satan’s Sainthood which is mentioned in the Holy Qur’an and people have been warned against it. Since the abundance of Satan’s traps in today’s world has made it easier to accept Satan’s Sainthood, this research, focusing on the Qur’anic verses and narratives, as well as using interpretive sources, attempts to introduce Satan’s features and ways to drive human out of the divine Sainthood, by expressing an analysis of the meaning of Satan’s Sainthood. Being in contrast with God’s Sainthood, being given evil attributes, and paving the way for accepting Sainthood on the part of man, are the most significant features of Satan’s Sainthood. A review of the verses indicates that the term “Sainthood” has a close semantic relationship with the term “adherence” and proves that it is adhering to Satan which leads to his Sainthood over man. The Holy Qur’an has pointed out various ways in which Satan drives human beings out of the God’s Sainthood. The most important ways to deal with Satan’s Sainthood are to get acquainted with Satan’s traps, to trust God, and to seek refuge in the Sainthood of the family of the Prophet (PBUH), which is realized in three components, i.e., cognitive, emotional and behavioral components.
