The effectiveness of teaching method scaffolding on cognitive abilities in students with special learning disabilities: study concept zoon of proximal development of Vygotsky

Abstract:
Aim of study is determining the effectiveness of teaching method scaffolding on cognitive abilities in children with special learning disabilities: study concept zoon of proximal development of Vygotsky. This research utilized a pre-test and post-test semi-experimental design with a control group. In this study, by random sampling method 34 children with special learning disabilities were selected from Kahreh city in year 2018-2109 and they were then assigned to experimental and control groups (n=17 for each group). The experimental group received teaching method scaffolding, but the control group did not receive any intervention. The research instrument was learning difficulties questionnaire of Colorado (2011) and Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children- IV (2003). Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed teaching method scaffolding significantly was effective on cognitive abilities in children with special learning disabilities. The results of this study showed that teaching method scaffolding can effect on cognitive abilities in children with special learning disabilities.
