Potentiometric and economic analysis of hydroelectric power plants development from reservoirs and water pipelines (case study: Khorasan Razavi Province)

In this study, probable potentials for energy and electricity retrieval in Khorasan razavi province are investigated. To do so, the possibility of hydroelectric power plants installation on the water conveyance lines is studied. Evaluating the parameters of height difference, input water discharge and location of the points, the possibility is researched. The results show installation of three hydroelectric power plants is possible which will lead to produce 8988628 kwhr electricity in the total proposed locations. In order to analyze economically, the approved prices for guaranteed purchase of electricityin years of 2015 (3700 Iranian Rials) and 2016 (1500 Iranian Rials) are used. The results of economic calculations show annual interest in 2015 and 2016 are 33258 and 13483 million Iranian Rials, respectively. Utility to cost ratio in 2015 and 2016 are 1.34 and 0.09, and finally the net profit for the two years are 5447 and 14328 million Iranian Rials, respectively. Generally, it can be concluded that considering the approved prices for purchase of electricity in 2016, installation of this kind of power plants has not economic reason and reconsider of the prices for guaranteed purchase of electricity is necessary.
