Prediction of Intercity Drivers' Sleepiness Based on job Burnout, Sleep Quality and Coping Strategies
Driving is one of the most important activities in the lives of most people in society. The purpose of this study was to predict the intercity drivers' sleepiness based on coping strategies, sleep quality and job burnout.
present research design was correlation and its statistical population included of all intercity taxi drivers in Shiraz that 300 of them were selected by available sampling method Data were collected using Epores Sleepiness Questionnaire (1990), Baysi Sleep Quality Questionnaire (1989), Lazaroos & Folkman Coping Strategies Questionnaire (1993), and Moslesh Job Burnout Questionnaire (1981). Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate regression.
The results showed that job burnout, sleep quality and coping strategies can predict drivers' sleepiness and explain 36% of the its changes.
Considering the role of job burnout, sleep quality and coping strategies in predicting drivers' sleepiness, it is recommended that these variables be further taken into account to improve driver performance and reduce road accidents.
