The survey onthe Behavior and Personality Traits of Military Commanders Based on Sublime Statements of Imam Ali (AS)

Abstract:

the present study is developed with the aim of studying Nahj al-Balaghah (collection of sublime statements of Imam Ali (AS) and extraction of behavioral specifications and personality traits that Imam Ali (AS) has specified them for a military commander. Behavior of military commanders in one of units of Army Force of the Islamic Republic of Iran has been studied using two hypotheses.The present study is of descriptive – survey type while its objective is of applied one. All staff and personnel at one of units of Army Force of Islamic Republic of Iran constitute subject of the present study. Sampling method was conducted using randomized classified form in three groups including officers, noncommissioned officers and staff. Sample size of the present study, as many as 207 staff, was calculated using Cochrane’s Formula. Data collection tool is researcher- made questionnaire. To study validity of questionnaire, two methods of content and validity of structure was used. Reliability of questionnaire was obtained 0.926 using Cronbach’s Alpha Coefficient. Comparison of results of research with statements of Imam Ali (AS) indicates that behavior of commanders except some case is found “suitable” and “appropriate” and hypotheses are confirmed. The results of the study showed that behavior of commander with subordinates is satisfactory with regard to compassionate with subordinates, looking into activities of subordinates in personal problems, excuse viability, lack of observation of distance of power, training subordinates with practice, etc. Generally speaking, behavior of commanders was found “wise” and “logical” with regard to subordinates except in some cases but observation of justice, consultation and no- dictatorship, powerful and aggressive contact with powers is not satisfactory and is below than the average level.Also.Personality traits of commanders with regard to virtue, piety, firmness and stability, patience and tolerance, criticism and righteousness is in satisfactory level. Given the above issue, humbleness and humility of commanders is below average level and is not “satisfactory”.
