Abstract:

In order to build the historical buildings of Chaghazambil area, the biggest architectural work known from the culture of Middle Ilam in the south west of Iran (Khouzestan province), belonging to the 13th century (BC), the favorable environmental advantages have been applied completely. In the coasts of a river with unlimited water, there is wood to make fire for different purposes(especially brick kilns) and suitable soil to make mudbrick, brick and mortar, so that ,more or less, today is as such too. It is clear that in Chaghazanbil historical area, brick has the most part of material consumption which constitutes the main element in making architectural constructs except the water reservoir and the underground amount. Although major level of Historical mud bricks and restoration mud brick walls in choghazanbil covered  by kah- gel plaster in past restoration, but major parts of mud bricks was destruted as result of mudbrick dameges and classified, so, by recognizing  harmful factors, conservation and restoration measures could be applied. . So, to make new mudbricks which at least in addition to having  required quality and general characteristics of historical mudbricks, some of their properties have also been repaired by applying the best building and processing conditions. By applying a practical approach, in this research, we are going to recognize the suitable clay reservoirs to make the optimized restorative bricks around Chaghazanbil and tries to answer the main question;ie, how the effective factors could contribute  to select suitable soil to make restorative bricks. The formative resources of Chaghazanbil area which were investigated previously were studied and the tested alluvial resources (XRD, XRF,grading, hydrothermy and Atterberg limits, Compound Analysis of Building Materials using Water Chemistry, Sieving Proceture, Hydrometery, Atterberg limits ) and the best resources (G3, R2)  were selected for restorative mudbrick.
