Critical Analysis of Salehi Najafabadi’s Opinions on The Exaggeration “Ġuluw” in Shīite Hadith and Supposing Exaggerative Some Shīite Hadith in The Book “Ġuluw”

The Book of Ġuluw (an introduction to the thoughts and beliefs of extremists “Ghulāt” in religion) by Nimatullah Salehi Najafabadi includes discussions on the date of formation of the exaggerating denomination, influential persons and events, and examines some hadiths that are suspected to be exaggerative. In this book, the author by expressing the activities of people like Abulḫaṭṭāb, has tried to show the intensity of influence of the extremists in the Islamic heritage and warn the readers about the exaggerative concepts in it, but it must be said that he has made some faults in his judgement like not paying enough attention to the validity and quantity of similar hadiths and the effect of refining hadith approaches on possible damages. Salehi Najafabadi offers some insights that are sometimes not generally comprehended, and historical reports on the subject are silent or sometimes is just one possibility alongside other possibilities and there is no definite reason to prove it, although some of his criticisms of some hadiths may be accepted, but in some cases like Imam Hossein›s knowledge of his testimony, the meaning of the Prophet›s illiterateness and the number of verses of the Holy Qur’an, he has supposed some hadith as an exaggeration and product of extremists which there is no sufficient reason for supposing them as an exaggeration and Secondly, its content is not a hadith narrated by just one person or seen in just one hadith that by rejection that single hadith the concept can be dismissed.
