The Semantics of the Word "Mathānī" in the Holy Qur'an with Emphasis on Sociolinguistics

The semantics of the word "Mathānī" in the Holy Qur'an with emphasis on sociolinguistics shows that this word is related to the "Fawāsel" of the verses and means the verses with the main content of divine praise that have been turned to each other with the help of the same and similar rhymes. This conclusion is obtained based on the etymology of the different derivatives of the root "Th N Y" using the patterns in social linguistics and according to the specific application of the word "Mathānī" in the context and co-text of verse 23 of Surat al-Zomar and verse 87 of Sūrah al-Ḥijr. Understanding the Qur'anic uses of the word "Mathānī" in the Holy Quran's Competition Discourse with the Ahlol al-Ketab shows that the "Mathānī" in connection with the Psalms of David were revealed to the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and are related to the prayers and praise of God. The association of the word "Mathānī" with expressions such as "Ahsan al-Ḥadith" and the connection of this word with the trembling of the body and "dhikr" in verse 23 of Sūrah al-Zomar, shows that the word "Mathānī" is related to the audio form of the Holy Quran and the content of divine praise. The similarity of the soundings of the "Fawāsel" and their turning to each other in seven consecutive verses of Sūrah al-Ḥamd and the main content of this Sūrah, that is, divine praise, has caused the Qur'anic description of "sab’an min al-mathānī" to be matched to Sūrah al-Ḥamd in the narrations of the Ahl al-Bayt and the Prophetic Traditions while next to it,"al-Qur’an al-‘Aẓīm" is another description of Sūrah al-Ḥamd, which shows the great importance of reciting this Sūrah.
