An Investigation into the Relationship between the Personality Traits of the Educational Commanders in an Organizational University and the Effectiveness of their Performance

Abstract:
Introduction

The present study is aimed at examining the relationship between the personality traits of the educational commanders in an Organizational University and the effectiveness of their performance.

Method

This is an applied research work in regard to purpose, and it is a kind of correlational study with regard to its nature and method. The statistical population of this research included the educational commanders in an Organizational University. The sample included all the member of the population, but its size is not revealed due to the confidentiality of the data. Both library and field methods were used to collect data for this study. The data collection instruments were the Neo Personality Traits Questionnaire of (McCray and Costa) and a researcher-made questionnaire of performance effectiveness with a reliability (Cronbach's alpha) coefficient of 0.88. To analyze the data, descriptive statistics including mean, variance and standard deviation, as well as inferential statistics including Kolmogorov-Smirnov test, Pearson correlation test and stepwise regression were used.

Results

The results indicated a significant correlation between extraversion with a correlation coefficient of 0.42, adaptability with a correlation coefficient of 0.49, emotional stability with a correlation coefficient of 0.45, openness to experience with a correlation coefficient of 0.45 and conscientiousness with a correlation coefficient of 0.45 and their effectiveness. These results are indicative of the relationship between commanders' personality traits and the effectiveness of their performance with a correlation coefficient of 0.47

Discussion

Considering that these five traits are the personality traits of individuals and given the job conditions of the commanders, these types of traits affect the effectiveness of their performance more.
