The Impact of Treatment Based on Improving Quality of Life on the Performance and Quality of Life of the Families of Azadeqn
Family performance is one of the important indicators guaranteeing the quality of life and mental health of the family and its members. This study was aimed at evaluating the impact of treatment based on improving the quality of life on the performance and quality of life of the families of azadeqns (released prisoners of war).
This quasi-experimental study, with a pretest-posttest and follow-up design (two months) and a control group, was conducted in 2017. A group of 30 released prisoners of war was selected from Divandereh, Kurdistan Province in Iran using the simple random sampling method, and they were randomly divided into experimental and control groups (each including 15 people). The experimental group received the intervention and treatment for 8 eighty-minute sessions, but the control group did not receive any intervention. The WHO Quality of Life Questionnaire (WHOQOLQ) and the Family Assessment Device (FAD) were used to collect data. Data analysis was performed using SPSS-18 software, multivariate analysis of covariance and one-way analysis of covariance.
The findings revealed that the mean quality of life and family performance of the released prisoners of war in the experimental group was higher than that of the control group in the posttest and follow-up test. The difference was significant (p < 0.01), and this increase was maintained in the follow-up phase.
Treatment based on improving the quality of life can have a stable and lasting effect on improving the quality of life and family performance of the released prisoners of war and can be used to improve their family performance and quality of life.
