Comparative approach of Iranian and Saudi foreign policy to developments in the Middle East with a view to takfiri currents
The emergence and strengthening of Takfiri terrorist groups has been due to two important events in the West Asian region, namely the Syrian crisis and the developments in Iraq, which also led to the support or confrontation of these groups under the influence of competition between trans-regional and regional actors. One of the regional rivalries between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Saudi Arabia is that the two countries reacted differently to these groups. The present article descriptively and analytically seeks the question of what are the strategies and goals of the foreign policy of Iran and Saudi Arabia to the developments in the Middle East with a view to takfiri currents? Findings show that the use of takfiri groups to counter Iran's regional influence has been a strategy in Saudi foreign policy, and in contrast, Iran has dealt with these groups in terms of regional security considerations and the axis of resistance.
