Imam Khomeini’s Clarification of Spiritual Perfection of Sinners based on Transcendental Wisdom
According to philosophical fundamentals attributed to Mulla Sadra, in the process of spiritual perfection, all humans are on the path of perfection due to the trans-substantial motion, whereas by virtue of the verses of the Quran, all humans are not qualified to be placed on the path of evolution meant to achieve spiritual perfection. Therefore, not only sinners upon death will fail to enjoy salvation and desirable perfection, but also will fall from the rank of humanity. Despite going through the course of evolution, they are punished with decadence and deprivation from Divine Blessings. In this sense, remarks by the transcendental philosophers manifest contradictions, the response to which shall be found in Imam Khomeini’s clarification of spiritual perfection. Appealing to the transcendental wisdom, Imam Khomeini makes a distinction between incorporeity, and salvation and damnation, considering man a free creature who chooses his salvation or damnation upon his free will. According to him, incorporeity happens in the course of a non-free will process. Therefore, there are two types of perfection for humans in which sinners are included in the incorporeal perfection.Theoretically speaking, man is endowed with trans-substantial motion like the other creatures, going through all stages of corporeity at any case. The only difference lies in the fact that man can either gain merits and virtues or suffer dereliction for his heedlessness upon his free will in this evolutionary path.
