Identifying the Causes and Consequences of Using Illegal Weapons in Kermanshah Province

The use of firearms is one of the issues that in addition to creating an atmosphere full of anger and hatred, also threatens public safety from various aspects. The main purpose of this study is to identify the causes and consequences of the use of illegal weapons in Kermanshah province.

The research method is qualitative in nature and the main research strategy is grounded theory and the data collection tool is interview. The participating community consisted of fifteen experts, including managers and security and law enforcement management experts, who were selected by purposive sampling. According to the principle of theoretical saturation, the interview continued until the fifteenth person, and finally the findings obtained from the coding of the data obtained from the interviews were examined based on the paradigm model of Strauss and Corbin.

The obtained paradigm model shows that the level of people's interest in using weapons as a (causal category) that is formed under geographical conditions and people's adherence to local customs and underdevelopment, has an effect on the use of weapons (central category). Of course, in the process of using illicit weapons, issues related to ethnic and tribal differences and the adverse effects of imposed war (contextual category) and the existence of border gaps and movements of dissident groups (intervening conditions) also affect the tendency of people to use weapons.

Based on the results of the research, it is possible to overcome the intervening conditions and use the contextual conditions in an optimal way by applying the appropriate strategies presented in the strategies section "such as creating intelligence aristocracy, increasing security and law enforcement agencies and implementing new weapons and ammunition plans". Reduce security consequences such as panic and anxiety and violent crime.
