Investigating the Role of Social Capitalin Social Development(Case Study of Hormozgan Province)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between the role of social capital in social development of Hormozgan province. In order to achieve the objectives of the research, the method of secondary analysis has been used and data related to social capital and social development have been collected by referring to land use planning data and statistical yearbook. To determine the social capital indicators, four indicators educational per capita, cultural per capita, health per capita and sports per capita were selected based on the data of the management organization. Also, social capital was used at three levels: micro, medium and macro, based on the land use planning. The sample size was done using the census method and all 13 cities of the province were selected. Finally, data analysis was performed using SPSS software and descriptive statistics such as mean, standard deviation, variance and inferential tests such as Pearson. The average obtained from descriptive statistics shows that the average of social capital (2.74) and social development (375.25) are in the middle and low levels, respectively. . Also, according to the findings, social development in Parsian was at a high level and the lowest level of social development was related to Sirik city. The results of inferential testing showed that there is an inverse relationship between the two variables of social capital and social development; this is due to the existence of strong intra-group ties between the citizens of Hormozgan. According to Granovetter theory, strong intra-group bonds limit relationships and, consequently, lack of social development.
