Pulmonary Thromboembolism due to Perforated Cecal Diverticulitis in Postpartum Period: A Case Report

Acute surgical abdomen during pregnancy and postpartum period is always an important challenge in diagnosis or management. Although it is better addressed during pregnancy, there is any exact data on prevalence and specific diagnostic and therapeutic approaches of these pathologies during postpartum period. On the other hand, due to the increased probability of developing thromboembolic events in postpartum, any surgical intervention can intensify this risk and must be considered.
In this article it Has been introduced a 27-year-old girl who underwent surgery due to perforated cecal diverticulitis but few days after discharging, she was admitted again for pulmonary embolism.
