Mothers' Lived Experience of Sex Rearing in Preschool Children

Abstract:

The aim of the present study was to investigate the lived experience of mothers from the sex rearing of their preschool children. This research was performed qualitatively using a phenomenological approach that in which 11 mothers of one to three children at least 3 to 6 years old were interviewed in depth and explored. Data were collected, recorded and coded and was analyzed with Colaizzy method in the form of main and sub-thematic themes. Analysis of 205 Preliminary Code, led to the identification of 2 themes (Sexual Innocence preservation and sexual abuse prevention Channel) and 8 sub-themes (Self-based maternal care, Child-based care, Monitoring of Sexual content, Answering to the child's sexual questions, Pay attention to the needs of the child, Respect and attention to the child's wishes, Pay attention to the child's relationship with others and Improvement of self-care skills). The final structure of participants' experience suggests that sex rearing is multidimensional in preschoolers with Using care, supervision, attention, accountability and training methods.
