Abstract:
The narration "Acts are judged by what we meant to accomplish through them” is one of the most widely used narrations quoted by Shia and Sunnis. In Shiite sources, if cited, it has been narrated from Sheikh Tusi’s Amali or Tahzib. In Sunni sources, it has been recognized with the successive transmission argument, but most narrators of both sects have questioned its authenticity. The document of this Sunni narration together with analogous narrations and reputation is deemed reliable by virtue of its narrator and sources and has semantic successive transmission. "Intention" in these narrations was the lexical truth that corresponds to "motivation". However, what is customarily debated by the jurists is a stage from the active stages of motivation to goal, which was interpreted as "summation of intention" in early Islam. For this reason, the intention of jurists may diverge from the true goal of the narration. The association between intention and action, due to the lexical truth, is direct and existential, and its confinement - due to the particularity of intention in action and the dominance of the originality of appearance - is real. Although the source of narration has been confirmed, it implies a direct and existential relationship in terms of signification, and what is meant by intention in this narration - contrary to the general understanding and actions of jurists - does not imply a specific meaning
