Presenting a model of predicting aggression in male adolescents based on communication patterns, differentiation and family cohesion with a mediating role of resilience
The aim of this study was to investigate the aggression prediction model based on communication patterns, family cohesion and self-differentiation by considering the mediating role of resilience in adolescents. The research method was descriptive and structural equation modeling. The statistical population of the present study was all high school students in Tehran in the academic year 2019-2020. The sample size was 500 students who were selected by cluster sampling (10 schools). Research instruments included Conner and Davidson (2003) Resilience Questionnaire, Novaco Aggression Scale (1986), Ritchie and Fitzpatrick Communication Patterns Questionnaire (1990), Skowron and Friedlander Self-Differentiation Scale (1998) and David ,Elson, Joyce Portner, and Joao Levy Family Cohesion Scale (1985). Descriptive (mean, standard deviation, skewness) and inferential (structural equation modeling) methods were used to analyze the data using SPSS and Amos software. The results of the conceptual model test showed that the fit indices of the research model are in a good condition. Communication patterns of dialogue, family cohesion and self-differentiation had a direct negative effect on aggression (p <0.05). Also, the hypothesis related to the indirect effect of communication pattern of dialogue, family cohesion and self-differentiation on adolescent aggression through resilience was confirmed (p <0.05). Understanding the underlying factors of aggression not only leads to a deeper understanding of adolescents, but also provides grounds to consider their characteristics and differences in planning and the use of educational and training facilities, and thus meet expectations and should be considered in accordance with age, psychological characteristics and features.
