Suspension narrative in painting and reading of the image based on the view Imdahl(Case Study: Killing Esfandiar Arjasb, Yousef and Zulaikha, Deravish Sama Dance
The present research studies the subject of suspension of narrative in Persian painting and reading it based on the image, based on the view of Max Imdahl. Persian painting, as one of the highest examples of visual culture, has a powerful visual language, which influences the narrative based on the literature of the work, and it also has special capacities in visual and artistic expression. It has emerged from literature but has created its own unique reading of narrative. The artist by using his own contrives, has translated the literary narrative to the visually and put it in front of the audience. In this way, like other visual arts, it expresses visual reading based on seeing. Using the iconic Max Imdahl method, the narration of the work is suspended so that the essence of the work and its meaning can be understood by observing. Therefore, understanding through the image should be placed instead of understanding about the image. As a result, the presumptions about the image will be suspended. The act of seeing becomes as the main element of the receiving and creating of meaning. For a case study, three paintings "Killing Esfandiar Arjasb", "Yusuf and Zuleykha" and "Deravish Sama Dance" have been selected. This research is based on descriptive-analytical method and the method of data collection is on the base of documentary, library and internet browsing.
