Sociological Explanation of Feeling of Fear and Insecurity (Case Study of Shamsabad district of Tabriz)

Abstract:

This paper investigated the feeling of insecurity and its personal and theoretical variables. For this purpose a survey of residents in high crime neighborhood city of Tabriz (shamsabad) was performed. The instrument of this study is questionnaire that filled out by 100 residents of the neighborhood. The population includes all people of shamsabad. The sampling method was systematic random sampling. Results showed that among variables, gender had significant relationship with insecurity and males were more fearful than females. Other personal variables didn’t have significant relationship with feeling of insecurity. On The other hand the distance variables of insecurity including( personal feeling about the crime, feeling of others, security in places, behavioral effects, attitudes toward the police operation, risk of becoming a victim) did have significant relationship with feeling of insecurity. in analysis of regression multivariate attitudes toward the police operation could explain 34 percent of dependent variable.
