Supporting the Witnesses and Informants in Criminology of Organized Crimes with Comparative Approach

 Using witnesses and informants is among the cheapest and most effective ways of criminology of organized crimes. To increase the participation in criminal justice, witnesses and informants need to be supported. This paper has been written with the purpose of identification of the rights and the support measures for revealers of organized crimes with a focus on witnesses and informants and explaining the position of security of intelligence and supporting them (the informants) in accordance with the legal standards.

the present paper is applied in terms of the purpose and has been done in a descriptive – analytic way. Necessary data has been gathered and analyzed by studying the library sources specifically global documents and rules of different legal systems using taking notes.

supporting witnesses and informants has been paid attention to in legal systems and international documents. Supporting measures are important not only in changing the residence and identity and so on but also measures during the prosecution in order not to be identified by the accused should be predicted. Prosecution in different European countries shows that in most cases, police is allowed not to reveal the name of the informants to the legal officials. In Iranian laws, some supporting measures about informants of crimes such as not confronting the witness or the knower with the accuseed or the palintiff, abstaining from revealing the information related to identity, residence or the activities of the witness or the knower, hearing the statements of the witness or the knower outside the court with remote equipment, paying the commuting the expenditures, compensation and so forth have been considred.
