Science Teachers’ Experience of the Transition from Indigenous Culture to Scientific Culture
The purpose of the present is analyzing the experience of science teachers at high school about students’ transition from indigenous culture to scientific culture. The paradigm of participatory interpretive research is qualitative research approach and the method of interpretive phenomenology has been used in research. For the research sample 10 science teachers were purposefully selected as participant using the criterion method the extant of data saturation. The finding showed that experience of teachers in combining scientific and cultural knowledge include the following component: cultural crisis of indigenous teachers, belief in the cultural nature of science, the value of indigenous culture, resolving students conflicts in cultural transfer, preparing students to integrate indigenous and scientific cultural. Finally the implications of the findings were offered to assist and enrich the experience of teachers for transition from indigenous culture to scientific culture.
