The place of controversy in philosophy from Farabi's point of view

Abstract:

The relationship between controversy and philosophy is one of the aspects considered by Farabi in relation to five arts (Sanaat khams) with each other. According to him, controversy is influential in philosophy in many ways: including creating a general understanding of the argumentative premise for everyone to have access to definitive information, providing relative and additional proofs of certainty in relation to different degrees of knowledge, the formation of Kharegeh and Baranieh philosophy In teaching philosophy, start with controversy before making certain arrangements, understanding the general meanings by inducing details in the controversy's art, resolving the doubts of the principles of certain science and protecting philosophy from sophists and fallacies, also Utilizing common knowledge for the socialization of philosophy and so on. This issue is seen in Farabi's expression in the form of "the necessity of the precedence of dialectical doubts over philosophical and argumentative premises" in his works.
