Efficacy of new rehabilitation equipments on traumatic low-back pain patients (Case Study: Mazandaran State Police Department)
One of the most important and common complications in traumatic patients in NAJA personnel is musculoskeletal disorder, that among these diseases low-back pain is particular importance. Electrotherapy stands a relatively new method that has been recently increased in our country, and it has shown that can play an important role in management of traumatic and chronic low-back pain. There are two routine electrotherapy devices: Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) and interferential current (IFC) methods. There was a mean reduction on the visual analog scale of 13.7% with TENS, 22.5% with interferential current. In the oswestry questionnaire, group 1 had a mean reduction of 7.2% and group 2, 9.8% and in term of range of motion with schuber test, there was 27% improvement with TENS and 24% with IFC. Although both groups showed significant improvements, we can suggest that the utilize of new rehabilitation agents in traumatic low-back pain patients provided additional benefits in reduction of pain and disability with improving range of motion. It can be concluded that IFC technique can reduce pain intensity and disability more than TENS technique but in improving range of motion, TENS could provide better results than IFC method.
