Effectiveness of child- parent relationship therapy on the improvement of mothers' parenting of children with attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder
The present study was conducted with the aim of determining the effectiveness of child-parent relation therapy on the improvement of mothers' parenting of children with attention deficit/ hyperactivity disorder.
The research method was an experimental study, including pretest- posttest with control group. For this purpose, 30 patients were selected using convenience sampling method and placed randomly in experimental (n=15) or control group (n=15). Subjects were measured by bamrid parenting style scale (1972). The experimental group participated in 10 sessions (60 minutes) of parent – child relationship Therapy and the control group didn’t receive any intervention. Data were analyzed using Covariance Analysis
The results indicated that child- parent relationship therapy (CPRT) made a significant difference between the two groups in terms of their average score on parenting styles (P<0/05).
The results showed that therapy based on the parent-child relationship can be considered as an effective way to improve the parenting styles of children with attention deficit / hyperactivity disorder.
