Electrical and Thermodynamic Characteristics of Non-transfer Arc and Electric Direct Current Plasma Torch with Air Working Gas
In this research, we designed and then constructed a direct current (DC), non-transfer thermal plasma torch for waste Gasification and investigated its electrical and thermodynamic characteristics. In the first case, we turned on the plasma torch at a constant 2 bar working gas pressure and increased the electric current of the torch from 50 to 100 amps, In the second case, we turned on the plasma torch at a constant 100 amps electric current and increased the working gas pressure of the torch from 2 to 3 bar. Finally, we measured and compared the electrical and thermodynamic characteristics of the plasma torch in the two mentioned cases. According to the results, the made plasma torch has a maximum electrical voltage of 210 volts and also a thermal efficiency of 86.2% in the 100 amps electric current and 3 bar gas working pressure. The maximum plasma enthalpy value is 21.5 MJ / kg and also the maximum plasma jet bulk temperature at the nozzle output is 3400 ° K in the 100 amps electric current and 3 bar gas working pressure. plasma torch has a temperature above 3000 degrees Celsius at a distance of 20 mm from the nozzle outlet and a suitable enthalpy of 21.5 MJ / kg and also has an appropriate thermal efficiency of 83 to 86%,
