Synthesis of SBA-15/ZIF-8 nanocomposite for removal of reactive red 198 from textile waste water
One of the water pollutants is dyes that are widely used in the textile industry. The most important dye compound used in the textile industry is reactive dye. In this study, SBA-15/ZIF-8 nanocomposite was synthesized and used for the removal of reactive red 198 from aqueous solution. For approving the synthesized adsorbent structure, BET and transform infra-red spectroscopy (FT-IR) techniques were used. UV−Vis spectrophotometer was used to determine the amount of residual dye in solution. The effect of different experimental parameters such as pH, adsorbent dosage, contact time, initial dye concentration, and temperature on the adsorption were studied. The optimum condition were pH = 2, adsorbent dosage of 0.03 g, and contact time of 90 min at 25 °C. In the studies performed, it was found that with increasing temperature, the amount of adsorption decreased, which represents that the adsorption process of 198 reactive red dye on the synthesized adsorbent SBA-15 / ZIF-8 is exothermic.
