A Comparative Study of the Relationship between Successful Marriage and Self-Differentiation with the Mediating Role of Emotional Cognitive Regulation among Married Men and Women in the City
This study aimed to compare the relationship between successful marriage and self-differentiation by considering the mediating role of cognitive emotion regulation in two groups of married men and women in Tehran. This research was a comparative causal and correlational study of structural equations that using the available sampling method, 600 male and female volunteers in equal numbers were selected in the period of summer (2019) to summer (2020). To collect the data of this study, Hudson Successful Marriage Index Questionnaire (1992) , Garnefski, Kraaij and Spinhoven Cognitive Emotion Regulation Questionnaire (2002) , Skowron and Schmitt Self-Differentiation Questionnaire (2003) were used. Data analysis was performed using independent t-test and path analysis using structural equation modeling and AMOS software version 24. The results showed that the path coefficient of the male group for all variables is higher than women and also, cognitive emotion regulation has a minor mediating role in the relationship between self-differentiation and successful marriage in men but does not play a mediating role in women. cognitive emotion regulation strategies are one of the most important individual factors in a successful marriage and family stability, therefore the role of educating mentioned above is very important and needs more attention from consultants and those involved in this field.
