An Analysis of the Missions and Goals, Content, Tools, and Functions of Faculty development Centers in World-Class Universities: A Comparative Comparison
The purpose of this study was to identify the missions and goals, content, tools, and functions of faculty development centers in world-class universities.
This study was conducted using qualitative approach and comparative comparison method and content analysis. Data were collected using the Times 2020 ranking site and sites of centers at world-class universities rated below 100. In this study, 40 faculty development centers in world-class universities were purposefully selected. Data from this study were coded and analyzed using NVIVO 12pro software.
The major themes were categorized into 4 axes of missions and goals, content, tools and functions, and two dimensions of university development and faculty development. The results of this research in the mentioned categories about creating networks of collaboration with faculty and related academic centers and using new teaching and assessment methods with interactive approaches and tools to enhance teaching and learning, along with related subcategories, can be used by strategic managers in universities.
