Analysis of police performance in preventing civil rights violations

Citizenship rights are one of the most important and controversial issues in political and social fields. Maintaining security and respecting the rights of citizens is of primary importance after meeting the basic human needs. Meanwhile, the structure of the government, including the police, which play an important role in creating order and security, as well as creating a mechanism for the realization of citizen's rights, are of great interest. The police in the system of the Islamic Republic of Iran also has an important and influential position in the field of citizen rights. In this regard, the current research tries to investigate and evaluate the role and performance of the police in preventing the violation of civil rights.

The method used in this research is descriptive-analytical.

The findings of the research confirm that the police is among the institutions that are related to citizenship rights and are related to it in a wide area. The legislator has considered many duties for the police, most of which are related to the category of the citizen's rights of the accused, such as respecting privacy, respecting the dignity of citizens, the right to explain the accusation, the right to silence, the right to remain silent, the prohibition of torture, and the right to know the reasons for arrest. Also, the establishment of female police, the establishment of prevention police, the quality management plan of the police force, the monitoring center, etc.
