Effectiveness of Couples Therapy Based on Glasser's Theory on the Quality of Emotional Climate in Spouses Affected by Extramarital Relationships
The purpose of this research was to study the effectiveness of couples therapy based on Glaser's theory on the quality of emotional climate in spouses affected by extramarital relationships. The current research was a semi-experimental type with a pre-test-post-test design with a control group. The current research population included all couples with extramarital relationships who referred to counseling centers in Tehran between March 2020 and April 2020. The research sample included 30 client couples who were selected by available sampling and randomly assigned to experimental and control groups. The participants completed the emotional atmosphere quality questionnaire before the interventions. The experimental group received Glasserian couple therapy intervention. Finally, a post-test was given to both groups. Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of covariance (MANCOVA) using SPSSV19 software. The results showed that Glasserian couple therapy was effective in all components of the emotional atmosphere of the family (P<0.05). Based on the results of this research, it can be said that the use of couples therapy based on Glasser's theory is effective in the quality of the emotional atmosphere of spouses affected by extramarital affairs, and the knowledge of experts in the fields of counseling, psychology, and health about these vaiables can be helpful.
