Comparing the Effectiveness of Compassion-Based Therapy and Positive Therapy on Optimism and Life Satisfaction of Women Involved in Conflict in the First Years of Life Together
One of the determining factors of family health is optimism and life satisfaction. The purpose of this research is to compare the effectiveness of compassion-based therapy and positive therapy for women involved in conflict who have lived together for a maximum of five years. The semi-experimental research design was pre-test and post-test with a control group. The statistical population of women were involved in the conflict in Mashhad city in April 2022, when they referred to the family court and the dispute resolution council of Mashhad. From the statistical population, 45 people were selected as available and randomly placed in two experimental groups and one control group. Experiment group 1 underwent compassion-focused therapy, experiment group 2 underwent positive therapy during 8 1-hour sessions, and the control group did not receive any intervention until the end of the research. The research tools were Enrich's Life Satisfaction Questionnaire (1989) and Shier and Carver's (1994) Optimism Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using multivariate analysis of covariance. The results showed that the treatment based on compassion and positive treatment was effective on the optimism and life satisfaction of the women of the target group with a confidence coefficient (0.95). Based on this, it can be concluded that compassion-based therapy and positive therapy can be used as complementary interventions to reduce psychological problems and improve the quality of life of women involved in marital conflict.
