Content Analysis of Secondary School Grade Three Profession and Technique Textbook according to Entrepreneurial Components

Abstract:
Educational system is significant bedrock for development and growth of entrepreneurial skills in individuals of every society. The purpose of the present study was to analyze the content of secondary school profession and technique textbooks according to indexes of entrepreneurship. The method of the study was descriptive of content analysis type. The population consisted of content of secondary school grade three textbook in the educational year 2012-2013 in 193 pages. A content analysis checklist was utilized in the study including five major entrepreneurial indexes namely, creativity, progress motivation, risk-taking, responsibility, and tolerance of ambiguity. To secure the reliability and validity of the instrument, opinions of experts at curriculum development and entrepreneurship were used. The data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics. Frequency and percentages were calculated by using entropy shanon to weigh the variables. Additionally, analysis of the data at to levels of descriptive and inferential statistics (including Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regressions) indicated that the research variables had positive effects. Results showed that the highest frequency in the textbook belongs to creativity and innovation and the lowest one was related to tolerance of ambiguity. According to the obtained results it is suggested that book designers pay attention to components of entrepreneurship and modify their frequencies.
