Using Geographical Information System and Statistical Models in Identification of Crime Hotspots in Bojnourd

The main aim of the current study is zoning the crime hotspots in Bojnourd city and investigating the role of human and environmental factors on the level of theft crime and each of which factors play most important role in theft crime occurrence. In order to conduct this research we have used a mixed method based on primary and secondary data. Primary data are collected through survey and secondary data are collected based upon data produced and offered by Police and other institutions in the form of occurred crimes addresses and maps. Independent variables were including: distance to police stations, distance to banks, distance to street lights, distance to education centers, distance to parks, distance to shopping centers, distance to parking stations, family income level, and population density. The dependent variable is the level of the theft crimes occurred in Bojnourd and its distribution in 1393. Findings of the study show that the theft crime hotspot in Bojnourd city is the territory of police station 11 due to high density of various land uses this area in spite of its occupation of just 13 percent of study area. The results of the study show that the most important factors to determine the dependent variable variance were distance to banks (-%35), distance to police stations (-%34) and population density (%20) respectfully.
