Statutory criteria pertaining to chastity and veil and Police Forces Tasks

The issue of veil and chastity in an Islamic Society is considered to be a main pillar of social health and safe society. For this, directions and laws related with veil and chastity have been formulated. In this regard, the duties of police forces are to determine the boundaries of chastity and veil in the community in order to cite its examples. The current paper is a result of research in this same area and seeks to account for two questions of “what are the criteria of ill- veil in Iran laws? And what are the guidelines or solutions to deal with ill- veil on the police forces’ part?” The research method is qualitative and falls under statutory texts content analysis. The statistical population of content analysis consists of all legal books and sources which were studied in full tally. Research results indicated that there are 26 provisions, regulations, directives and circulars relayed with the issue of veil and chastity. Such criteria as ill- veil in laws could be summarized as not wearing head hair fully or elsewhere in the body for women except for face and buttocks, wearing short and tight skirts and jeans, inappropriate clothing, facial makeup unconventionally and using hats instead of Maghna’e (veil covering head) Of criteria related to non-chastity for men, one can refer to using necklace and earing, using female wearing, short, tight and thin pants and trousers. Guidelines stated for countering ill- veil by police forces are attempts for upgrading   laws related with time and place conditions as well as expert meetings for proving solutions, reducing examples of ill- veil and publicizing laws to the people as well as demanding other administrative bodies and officials and hence punishing places where these laws are not observed.
