Studying the Factors Affecting People's Participation in Crime Prevention

Public Participation and people’s cooperation with police is considered as one of the crucial and important factors in crime prevention. This study aimed at finding ways to involve the public in crime prevention in Bojnurd city. The present study was carried out using survey method. The population of this research includes law enforcement personnel, education staff, NGOs, and social experts from government offices in Bojnourd. Based on Cochran’s sample size formula the sample size is 192. The data was collected by questionnaire, and measure’s total reliability using Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0/892. In order to check the validity of measure, the questionnaire is confirmed by some university professors in department of law and regulation in Bojnourd Azad University and university of police sciences. The data were analyzed through using Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate linear regression. The results of the study show that all the research hypotheses were confirmed and approved. The interaction between police and education organization for engaging the students, Parents and teachers was selected as most important predictor of crime prevention in Bojnurd.
