The Effect of Motivational Psychotherapy on Academic Motivation in Students

Motivational psychotherapy has been investigated for its effects in the treatment of various disorders.

This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of motivational psychotherapy in enhancing educational motivation among students.

This research employed a pretest-posttest quasi-experimental design with a control group. The study population comprised all female second-grade high school students in Birjand City during the 2022-2023 academic year. Purposive sampling was used to select a sample of 30 participants, who were then randomly assigned to the experimental (15 participants) and control groups (15 participants). The Harter Educational Motivation Inventory (1981) was used to collect data.

The mean age of the experimental group was 17.23 years. The results of the analysis of variance (ANOVA) indicated that motivational psychotherapy had a significant impact on students’ educational motivation.
