Abstract:
Background and purpose

The application of developing the skills, knowledge and behavioral capabilities of soldiers is one of the keys to the success of military organizations. This research was conducted with the aim of investigating the role of emotional discipline on organizational bullying and service performance of soldiers of the Greater Tehran Command.

Methodology

The present study was semi-experimental with pre-test and post-test in experimental and control groups in terms of purpose, applied type, and in terms of implementation method. The statistical population of the research included all conscripts who were serving in Fateb police. In this research, 30 people were selected by targeted non-random sampling method and were replaced by random assignment in two experimental and control groups. The experimental group received the emotional regulation training program in 8 sessions, but the control group did not do any training. Both groups completed organizational bullying (researcher-made) and job performance questionnaires (Hersey and Goldsmith, 1990) as pre-test and post-test. Research data were analyzed using descriptive statistics (such as frequency, percentage, mean and deviation) and inferential statistics (analysis of covariance and multivariate tests) and using SPSS 26 statistical software.

Findings

The results of the research showed that in the post-test stages, there was a significant difference between the experimental and control groups in the variables of organizational bullying and service performance of the soldiers of the Greater Tehran Management Command. The experimental group was more than the control group in these components in the post-test stage (P≤0.001). The statistical effect size of emotional regulation training on organizational bullying and service performance of the soldiers of the Greater Tehran Management Command was 70.357 and 60.967, respectively.

Conclusion

emotional regulation training can be used as an efficient method to reduce organizational bullying and increase service performance of soldiers.
