Abstract:

In the hadiths, there is an order for Arbaeen pilgrimage and a special letter for that pilgrimage has been presented by the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them). Arbaeen Pilgrimage has been investigated from various mystical, educational and historical aspects, but this article aims to investigate the capabilities of Arbaeen Pilgrimage with a cultural and social approach. Based on this, Arbaeen pilgrimage can be considered as a model for pilgrimages, which today has largely deviated from its ideal due to the influence of the tourist model. The pilgrim pattern in Arbaeen pilgrimage can be analyzed in contrast to the touristic pattern of pilgrimage trips in terms of attitude, tendency and action. Arbaeen pilgrimage is based on a special model of epistemology, ontology, and cosmology, the result of which is reflected in the special pattern of leisure and sanctity of this journey. In this model, spirituality and shopping, as two special behaviors of pilgrims, follow the ethical atmosphere and principles of pilgrimage.
