Changing Activities and Spaces Through Technology Management in Homes of the Future
Moving from an industrial society to an information-based society has transformed homes from a place of rest to the central hub of human life. Due to rapid technological advancements and changing resident needs and priorities, humanity is facing the emergence of smart homes. Smart homes aim to address contemporary human needs using advanced technology and innovative design solutions to adapt to changing lifestyles. Smart home design involves combining a Virtual Space (VS) with an Ambient Intelligence Space (AmI-S) alongside a Physical Space (PS), where technology management plays a pivotal role. The primary objective of this research is to investigate the impact of technology on people's activities and subsequently design smart homes as the living spaces of the future. The current research method is descriptive-analytical, utilizing library studies and content analysis to develop a conceptual model. Throughout the research process, the effects of introducing novel technology on residents' activities and interior spaces are examined, and finally, solutions are proposed to harmonize primary residential spaces with the conditions resulting from smartification. The results demonstrate that smartification contributes to enhancing the quality of future housing industries, as it aligns with complex activities and evolving technologies. Smartification brings about changes such as intelligent interior spatial reorganization, spatial flexibility, and space-saving measures, and the resulting technological development significantly impacts activities and spaces within the three primary home areas (private, semi-private, and public spaces).
