Health-Promoting Lifestyle based on Extraverted/Introverted Personality Traits (a Cross-Sectional Study)
Non-communicable diseases are known as the main cause of death in the world, and having a healthy lifestyle in adulthood is vital to prevent most non-communicable diseases. Your lifestyle depends on personality factors and environmental factors. Among the personality factors, extroversion and introversion are considered one of the most important personality traits in the formation of daily activities. This research was conducted with the aim of investigating the relationship between personality traits and behaviors related to lifestyle.
In a cross-sectional study, the data of 508 Iranian patients from medical centers were analyzed to examine personality characteristics from the Eysenck Personality Questionnaire (EPI) and to examine lifestyle from the Life Style Questionnaire (LSQ). used.
The results showed that in the LSQ scale, extroverts scored higher than introverts and had a healthier lifestyle. For example, we found that extroverts with an average score of 11.23±4.28 (p=0.01) are more likely to exercise, or that there is a difference between extroversion and social health and mental health, respectively, with an average score of 15.80±4.32 (p<0.01). ) and 12.86±3.22 (p<0.01) there was a positive and significant relationship. Also, there was a significant negative relationship between extroversion and the possibility of accidents, so that extroverts are less involved in accidents than introverts (16.33±3.83.)
The results show that extroversion/introversion can play a very important role in the formation of lifestyle.
