Reasons Related to Fear of Success in Female Employees

Message:
Abstract:
Unequal opportunities inherent in the process of personality development create differential growth in individual abilities within the family setting and in the wider social context. This is the source of some of problems women face at work and in other social environments. The problems are rooted in contradictory upbringing as practiced in the society. Since some of the perceived threats are socio-culturally defined the resulting anxiety generates fear of success and acts as an obstacle to occupational promotion of women. The main goal of this article is to investigate reasons related to fear of success in female employees within public organizations. The findings indicate that nature of traditional upbringing practices of the society and dispositions based on sexual socialization intertwined with contradictory learning contents are the main factors producing fear of success. Therefore, it is necessary to inform the female employees that such fears are not due to their incompetence, and that these fears originate from the social and cultural factors. Thus, to enhance females self esteem and to expand their abilities, the necessary knowledge is set up and ground work is prepared.
