Abstract:

This study aimed to examine the relationship between family external boundaries and spouses' responsibility, with the mediating role of Islamic self-regulation. The research employed a descriptive and correlational design. From the statistical population of married spouses in Isfahan Province, 156 individuals were randomly selected and responded to the External Family Boundaries subscale from the H.FBQ Family Boundaries Questionnaire, the Responsibility subscale of the California Psychological Inventory (CPI-Re), and the Self-Regulation Questionnaire based on Islamic sources (SCS-BIS). The relationships between variables were analyzed using correlation coefficients and linear regression, and the data were processed using Baron and Kenny's four-step method. The findings showed a significant positive relationship between the predictor variable (family external boundaries) and the criterion variable (responsibility). Additionally, there was a significant positive relationship between the mediator variable (self-regulation) and the predictor variable (family external boundaries). The results also indicated a significant positive relationship between the criterion variable (responsibility) and the mediator variable (self-regulation). Therefore, it can be concluded that self-regulation mediates the relationship between family external boundaries and responsibility.
