Investigating the effect of telemedicine on the management of migrain headache: a Systematic review article

Abstract:
Backgrounds

Migraine has been identified as the second most disabling disease by the World Health Organization. The aim of this review article was to Investigating the effect of telemedicine on the management of migrain headache.

Methods

A search was conducted with relevant keywords in all years to review the literature and background of studies in six electronic databases: Web of Science, Science of Direct, Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, Magiran. Search terms included telemedicine, migraine, headache, Tele-Care, Tele-Intensive Care. Studies investigating the effect of telemedicine on migraine headaches were included in the study. The PEDro scale was used to assess the methodological quality of the articles.

Results

A total of 31 articles were found, and after more detailed evaluations and study inclusion and exclusion criteria, 5 articles related to the subject of the present study, whose scores on the PEDro scale were greater than 5, were reviewed. There were many differences in methodology, main indicators evaluated, sample size, implementation method, method of evaluating variables, etc. among the studies.

Conclusion

The results of past research studies showed that telemedicine and remote medicine improve patient outcomes and manage migraine headaches.
