Abstract:
In the past, pilot training required the use of real aircraft and the acceptance of potential risks during training flights, but gradually various types of hardware and software flight simulators entered the pilot training system, which had a great impact on improving flight training. Software flight simulators with virtual reality capabilities have many advantages over fixed and mobile hardware simulators, including improving the quality of training, reducing costs, reducing time and increasing training efficiency, reducing the potential risks of training flights with real models, and also conducting training and practice flights in a realistic and virtual reality-based environment with a high sense of immersion. In this research, the Xplane software flight simulator, which has virtual reality capabilities, was selected and optimized and localized in the airport scenery section by designing and adding the scenery of Kushk-e Nusrat Airport to the raw airport environment, and in the aircraft section by designing and adding the Kowsar fighter jet livery. On the other hand, various realistic add-ons have been added to make the simulator environment more natural and increase the sense of presence in the real environment. After optimizing and applying various add-ons to it, this simulator has been implemented, run, and tested both in desktop and virtual reality environments. The aforementioned simulator can be used as a new, cheap, and efficient tool to familiarize pilot students with all the details of a real flight in aviation centers, and pilots can also use it to practice and improve their flying skills or experience flying with other aircraft.
