Abstract:
The main aim of the research was to predict depression based on procrastination and cognitive distortions of female teachers in district 1 of Shiraz. The current research was applied in terms of purpose and descriptive and correlational in terms of method. The statistical population of the research included female teachers of one district of Shiraz (836 people) in 1401-1402, of which 265 people were selected by random cluster sampling method. In order to collect data, Beck et al.'s depression questionnaire (1996), Safarinia and Amirkhani Razlighi's procrastination questionnaire (2013) and Ellis' cognitive distortions questionnaire (1998) were used. Data analysis was done using SPSS version 24 software. The results of Pearson's correlation coefficient showed that there is a positive and significant relationship between procrastination and depression (r=0.820; P<0.0001) and cognitive distortions with depression (r=0.797; P<0.0001). . Also, the results showed that procrastination alone explains 0.67 and along with cognitive distortions 0.737 of the variance of depression. Based on the findings of the research, it can be stated that more procrastination and cognitive distortions in female teachers lead to an increase in depression.
