Abstract:
Objective
The present study aimed to predict adolescent aggression based on perceived social support and communication skills.
Methods
The present study was a descriptive correlation study. The statistical population of this study consisted of all high school male students in Ardabil city in the year 2019. 200 students were selected by multistage cluster random sampling. Subjects completed aggression, perceived social support and communication skills questionnaires. Data were analyzed using SPSS-22 software and Pearson correlation coefficient and multiple regression analysis.
Results
Findings showed that adolescent aggression had a significant negative relationship with perceived social support and communication skills. The results of regression analysis showed that 24 percent of the total variance of adolescent aggression is perceived by social support and 48 percent is explained by communication skills (P<0.05).
Conclusion
The results of this study can help psychologists, families and schools to further understand the role of perceived social support and communication skills in decreasing adolescent aggression and can plan appropriate interventions and educational programs considering these variables in decreasing adolescent aggression.
