Importance of D genome at bread Wheat

Bread wheat, with widest adaptability range in the crop plants, has borned from crossing between tetraploid wheat T.durum and Ae. tauschii, a wild diploid wheat from Iran. The D genom of Bread wheat provides by this wild donor and it is cuse of some important agronomic trits and wide adaptability of bread wheat. Whoever, genetic variability reported within the D genome of bread wheat is much lower than Ae. tauschii populations. Therfore, genetic diversity of this species offers a great potential for wheat improvement quality and adaptability characteristics. The genetic diversity in D genome, its application methods and some of highlighted results in plant breeding were reviwed here.
