A Search- Based Report on Alzheimer's Disease and Those Suffering

This report introduces the Alzheimer?s Disease and addresses its symptoms and effects, diagnosis, magnitudes, research/treatment and costs in the United States. The report in particular emphasizes the environmental support for Alzheimer?s patient and available assistance. It relates some personal stories to depict human dimensions of this health issue. Some suggestions and a concluding statement bring the report to and end. It is imperative to note that up to year 2000 primarily aged population in the developed nations suffered from this disease. However, given that people in the developing countries live longer and that life expectancy has been increasing in them, it is essential that caregivers and communities in the developing nations understand about Alzheimer and ways to manage it. According to Alzheimer''s Disease International (ADI) the number of people with dementia is rising quickly. By the year 2025, there will be four times the number of people with dementia in the developing world as there were in 1980. Seventy-one percent of all people with dementia will be in developing countries by 2025. There are now approximately 18 million people with dementia in the world. Of these, it is thought that about 12 million are suffering from Alzheimer''s Disease. Literature on the issue suggests that the prevalence rate (3%) is the same for population over the age 69 for both the developed and developing nations.
