Investigation & Proffering a Suitable Numerical Method for Simulation of Non-Die Explosive Forming Problems

Abstract:
The explosive forming problems are always regarded as the most complex matters of explosive engineering and impact mechanics. Numerous variables such as detonation wave, interaction between wave and workpiece, high strain rate, interaction between structure and fluid, and large deformations each can add to the complexity of such problems. On the other hand, numerical analysis of these problems results in reducing the expenses of experimental tests. However, numerical analysis of these problems requires experience, time and trying various methods of solving problems even if information and constants for solving the problem are available. In this investigation, several numerical methods have been used to model a practical explosive forming problem. Among these methods, the most appropriate numerical solution has been selected and its benefits have been mentioned. Numerical solution of this problem has been done by FEM.
